'AUSwinston'

Named for Canterbury Cathedral, the site commemorating this martyred archbishop, this Austin rose captivates with striking crimson-red rosettes held in large heads that nod attractively. Thomas A Becket® unfurls large, exceptionally long-lasting blooms with a moderately fragrant scent of old rose, citrus, and raspberry notes. Very winter hardy, this bushy shrub is ideal for beds and hedges where its peony-like flowers can be admired.

More About Thomas A Becket®

Thomas A Becket® opens from bulbous, dark pink-red buds in loose clusters, revealing large rosettes in dark pink nearing medium red with a lighter reverse. As the very double flowers mature, they transition into loose tufts with gently reflexed petals reminiscent of peony blooms, their heads nodding gracefully on gently arching stems. Moderately fragrant with old rose notes layered with bright citrus and raspberry.

Growing Details

Thomas A Becket® forms a bushy shrub with gently arching stems reaching 4' × 4', thriving in CA Zones 5-6+ | USDA 4-5+ and beyond. Clad in large, textured green foliage with a semi-glossy finish, this continuous blooming rose shows minor fungal susceptibility in some growing areas.
