Originally planned to be named after Käthchen, meaning "little Kate," the beloved heroine of a German Romantic play set in Heilbronn, this rose travelled from literary legend to garden icon. Arborose® Kiss Me Kate™ is a Climbing rose producing medium, very double old-fashioned blooms in clear romantic pink with darker reverse, very fragrant with sweet, powdery, and fruity notes, ideal for arches, pergolas, and vertical spaces. A multiple fragrance award-winner with good disease resistance.

Arborose® Kiss Me Kate™ develops from of a pink bulbous buds into large, very double blooms. Clusters of long lasting old-fashioned pompon flowers open to deeply cupped blooms that transition to quartered flower with age, revealing clear romantic pink petals with a darker reverse. Very fragrant with sweet, powdery, and fruity notes of green apple, raspberry, and grapefruit combined with myrrh, Kiss Me Kate™ fills vertical spaces with exceptional aromatic pleasure as the lush blooms develop their quartered old-fashioned form throughout the season.

Growing Details

A climbing rose reaching 7 feet or more in height and 4 feet in width. Arborose® Kiss Me Kate™ has medium green large leathery semi-glossy foliage and demonstrates good disease resistance. Winter hardy, thriving in CA Zones 5-6+ | USDA 4-5+. Requires full sun and adapts to all soil types. On July 2, 2016, during the 6th Heilbronn Rose Market, the young woman chosen that year to play Käthchen, Heilbronn's beloved little Kate, officially christened this rose with water from the Neckar River, naming it the first ambassador of the 2019 Federal Horticultural Show.
