The Resiliency of Roses
Winter can feel dreary, long and cold, especially for those of us in the northern United States and Canada where snow drifts and ice storms hit. But a bit of perspective can help. Roses are resilient and are built to survive cold temperatures.
The secret lies in the natural hardening off process they experience each fall. As days shorten and temperatures cool, a rose's metabolism slows, causing it to enter dormancy and shed its leaves. This gradual transition is more than just preparation for winter - it's what makes roses adaptable. Plants that have weathered these natural temperature swings adjust better to a wide variety of conditions afterward, whether that's a climate with harsh winters or a more temperate region.
Roses that you receive from Lakeview, are field-grown and experience this complete hardening off process before they're harvested. They then rest in our monitored coolers all winter, maintaining their dormancy until they're shipped to you in spring - strong, resilient, and ready to thrive in your garden.
