We have been busy in the packing barn these past couple of weeks. Some of the first rose shipments have left our hands and are on their way to your garden.
Great care has been taken in how these roses have been selected, stored and packed. A small example of this care can be seen in the work we undertook prior to our shipping season. We collaborated with several rose enthusiasts to test temperature fluctuations for roses in boxes through typical shipping routes. We compared internal and external temperatures and continue to receive updates on the roses as spring progresses. The findings informed our decisions on packaging and shipping route preferences.
We are actively tracking the weather along the routes the roses will take. This time of year can offer challenges in shipping live plants with such varied distances and climates between Lakeview Roses and gardens in temperate coastal locations and the southern USA. Rest assured, if we ever feel that your roses would be unsafe, we will connect with you.

Help Your Roses Flourish
On the effects of temperature and climate, if the difference in temperature is significant between Lakeview Roses in Ontario, Canada and your garden, you may want to consider an additional step to help your roses ease into their new environment.
Once you have cut your roses back to 6” (15cm) and planted them at the appropriate depth for your growing zone, you can hill them up with soil and mulch so that only the points of the canes can be seen. This small additional step offers excellent protection against evaporation by wind, sun, or heat. Even frost can dehydrate roses and it's worth considering this step if you still expect frost after planting. Once you can see new growth pushing on the tips of the roses canes, carefully pull the hill of soil and mulch away and watch your roses flourish!

Special Notes For Customers Awaiting Roses
If you are waiting for your shipment of roses, here are a few things to note. Labels for couriers are typically created at the end of the week prior to your package being shipped. Tracking information is sent to you at that time. Please note that couriers can sometimes be a bit slow in updating data, so don't worry if it takes a few days to see details.
