Do You Know How Your Roses Grow?

What's Happening In The Rose Fields

Grafting has begun! Our Rosa multiflora understock, grown by us from seed here on the farm, is now being grafted. The process takes a skilled and dedicated crew working carefully under Chuck's direction. This crop of roses will overwinter in the fields, bloom next summer, and be harvested in the fall of 2027. It is always exciting to watch the beginning of a rose's journey to your garden.

Do you know how your roses are made? There are several ways to propagate roses. Learn more about the different methods through the link below and follow each one on our flow chart graphic.

May We Introduce You To...

We have three more beautiful Kordes® Roses to share with you this week. Each one brings its own unique colour and stature to the garden. All three share the hallmark Kordes® Roses qualities of health and hardiness, the result of generations of dedication to breeding roses that are as resilient as they are beautiful.

Did You Know...?

ADR stands for Allgemeine Deutsche Rosenneuheitenprüfung, translated All Germany Rose Trial. One of the most rigorous and challenging rose trials in the world, roses are observed in eleven garden sites across a wide variety of climates throughout Germany over the course of three years.

Grown without chemical fungicides or pesticides, roses are carefully analyzed for disease resistance, winter hardiness, growth, reblooming ability, fragrance, self cleaning, rain tolerance, overall attractiveness and habit. Analysis and complex scoring is completed by the German Nursery Association (BdB), the Federal Plant Variety Office, rose breeders, and independent experts multiple times each year throughout the trial.

Award winning roses are those that demonstrate exceptional qualities in all categories. Our three featured Kordes® Roses have all received the ADR quality seal making any one of them a confident and rewarding choice for your garden.

It is also worth noting that the environmental and disease pressures of the ADR trial regions are quite similar to those we experience here at our nursery. However, other climates such as coastal, mountain and southern may have different results, which is why we love to hear feedback and see photos from gardeners in every climate!
